The Leopards’ football team took early leads but was unable to sustain them, losing, 43-27, to Occidental Saturday at Ben Hines Field.

After losing two straight games, the Leopard football team returned to the win column in a big way using a tough second-half defense en route to easily winning 35-15 over non-conference opponent Chapman University Saturday night at Chapman Stadium.

The University of La Verne football lost a late lead for the second week in a row, falling, 41-34, to Cal Lutheran Saturday at Mt. Clef Stadium in Thousand Oaks.

In a strong performance at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference track and field championships, the University of La Verne men’s and women’s track teams put together a total team effort but came up short as they ran into a pumped up Claremont team that swept both the men’s and women’s team titles, Monday afternoon at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

The University of La Verne men’s and women’s track and field teams were successful this weekend in the first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Dual-Meet of the season.

In a battle of winless teams trying to fight their way out of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference cellar, Whittier College used a five-play, 93-yard drive with 2:35 remaining for the winning score to hand the Leopards their seventh consecutive loss, 21-14, Saturday afternoon at Ortmayer Stadium.
