David Simonowitz, art history professor at UCLA, presented a lecture titled “Public Art and Propaganda Under Saddam Hussein” on Feb. 10, explaining the form of art in Iraq under the rule of Saddam Hussein.

Just last month the Bush administration formally concluded its unsuccessful search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Despite the fact that not a single WMD was found, the American people will not be denied their smoking gun.

Sometime earlier this year, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell related some pretty damning evidence to the Bush administration, which sent our torn nation headlong into a hotly debated war with Iraq.

I recently learned something very disturbing, and I doubt that any of you reading this would not feel the same way.

In times like these I realize how selfish people in this country are, including myself.

I do not consider myself a Democrat, a Republican or a liberal. I'm plain American, and I am very proud to be so, thank you very much.
