Sophomore pitcher Cody Norman and the Leopards’ offense carried La Verne to a 8-0 win against Pomona-Pitzer in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader at Ben Hines Field. La Verne dominated Pomona-Pitzer over the weekend, sweeping the three-game series and taking sole possession of second place in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

At the end, a swing and a miss set the team into a frenzy as they secured their 20th Southern California Intercolleg­iate Athletic Conference title with a 3-0 senior day win over Whittier Friday at Mt. SAC’s Mazmanian Field.

La Verne’s two-game losing streak ended as they pulled out a 5-4 win against Occidental Saturday in one of the last games on Ben Hines Field.

After having the first game of the series cancelled on Friday, the Leopards took on Cal Lutheran for a doubleheader Saturday at Ben Hines Field. La Verne won both games by scores of 7-5 and 8-0.

After a disappointing loss to Pomona-Pitzer on Friday, the Leopards came back with two big wins against the Sagehens in a doubleheader last Saturday with a score of 9-4 in the first game, and 4-1 in the second game.
