Last week's tragedy in Littleton, Colo., has once again opened our eyes as to how cruel children are capable of being. It is hard to understand what makes two teenagers kill. The media has begun the process of trying to figure out why the killers did what they did. Why, why, why?

Now that the ballots have been passed out and the winners have thanked the Academy and all of the little people, it is time for me to vent my post Oscar frustrations.

It is sad to see truly talented actors in bad entertainment vehicles. Bill Cosby in "Leonard Part VI," Robert Duvall in "Days of Thunder," Lynn Whitfield in "A Thin Line Between Love and Hate," Al Pacino in "The Devil's Advocate." Al, you were Michael Corleone for crying out loud!

An open letter to Jerry Falwell

Last week's article ["Apathy sickens dedicated voter," Nov. 20] raised some interesting points but also made assumptions that should be reexamined. Dissatisfaction with the "political system" and the reasons behind the electorate's apathy may become clearer after examining those assumptions.
