It is that time of year on campus – that time when men and women are wearing those lovely sweaters and jackets with the sown on letters representing their sorority or fraternity. The sorority and frat talk is even more predominate, with posters and giant letters around campus, trying to draw others in to join.
For most of my life, I have been skeptical of Greek life. My judgment was influenced by popular television shows that only portray sleazy parties, ruthless hazing and harebrained women thoughtlessly backstabbing one another.
Singles were able to toss away their worries of being alone and having no plans on Valentine’s Day because Singles Awareness Day, an event held by the Campus Activities Board.Organizers gave single students a chance to celebrate themselves and feel involved on the predominantly couple-oriented holiday.
