Renaming the American Armenian International College building to Leo Hall would be a foolish and inconsiderate step to take by the University of La Verne. The University’s Space Committee will propose for the name change in May to the University’s Board of Trustees.

The new Hoover Building plans are underway, and will have, as one of its tenants, the Behavioral Science Department, hosting psychology, sociology, anthropology, and then graduate programs. The Campus Accelerated Program for Adults (CAPA) program, as well as the office of John Gingrich, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, will also be among the new occupants of the space, which is expected to be complete beginning the fall 2001 semester.

Next September, the Hoover Building will become the new home to the Behavioral Science department, CAPA and John Gingrich, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. A decision process will then take place to determine which departments will be moving into the empty spaces in Founders Hall.

Discussion continues among members of the University of La Verne Space Committee as the group strives to reach a consensus over which department will move into the Hoover Building once the College of Law relocates to Ontario.

Responsible for the relocation of academic departments and other facilities, the Space Committee is currently working to determine the new location of the Education Department, uses for the vacant space in the Student Center and expansion of the Behavioral Science Department in the Mainiero Building.
