The La Verne track and field team was absent from the standings during Azusa Pacific College’s Last Chance two day meet at Citrus Stadium starting on May 13 but four Leopards made their marks, shining through from the rest of the team’s quiet performance.
Freshman T.K. Herhe turned in an extraordinary performance Saturday at the Occidental Invitational, setting a new University of La Verne school record for the men’s 5,000-meter race. It was just one of several high-ranking performances at the meet.
Sophomore hurdler Zackary Reid and junior high jumper Olvia Magby led the way for the men’s and women’s track and field teams at the SCIAC Championship meet Saturday and Sunday at Whittier, earning first place finishes in their events.
The men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the SCIAC No. 2 meet at Claremont Mudd-Scripps on Saturday with a few athletes hitting the top of the leaderboards.
The men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete in the NCAA Division III West Regionals on Saturday in Claremont in what could be their last meet of the season.
