The University of La Verne held its first Faculty Research and Professional Activity Day on Oct. 13. The event celebrated the professional and academic aptitude of the University's faculty.

The University of La Verne's Faculty Research and Professional Activity Day will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m Oct. 13, in the library and Harris Art Gallery.

The La Verne City Council voted against joining 24 cities and counties in California that are adopting a resolution against war in Iraq at the city council meeting Monday.

As the city council election polls closed Tuesday evening, the results that came in were familiar to the citizens of La Verne. The two incumbents, Tom Harvey and Dan Harden, had been re-elected into the city council, with Jon Blickenstaff (who ran uncontested) as mayor.

Campaigns are in full effect this month as the race for a seat on the city of La Verne's city council gets underway. Elections are set for March 6, as six candidates (including two incumbents) are vying for two open seats on the council.

The Education Department and the Educational Management Department are joining forces to establish the School of Education and Leadership at the University of La Verne. The process is expected to be finalized next year with the appointment of a dean for whom the search is under way.
