The young University of La Verne women's soccer team took to the field last Saturday to defend their impeccable 2-0 record against Southwestern, a competitor who hails from Houston, Texas. The story of this game was not about the score, but rather of how the team has come together.

After posting an overall record of 15-4 last season, the University of La Verne women's soccer team looks to rely on young talent to improve its mark this season, maybe even gaining a NCAA Division III playoff berth.

Though the women's soccer team did not finish in first place in SCIAC, that does not mean it is not one of the best teams in the conference. That was noted after senior midfielder Jacqui Zwissler was awarded player of the year this week.

Not expecting a bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs, the University of La Verne women's soccer team took the field Saturday against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas and did what they do best, they had fun playing the game of soccer.

Combining for a total of 13 goals in the last two games is keeping the University of La Verne Women's Soccer team at the No. 3 ranking in the Western Region.

What could be a better way to start SCIAC than with a solid win. That's just what the women's soccer team did Wednesday beating the University of Redlands 6-1.
