Transfer process to be streamlined in 2019

The University of La Verne is implementing a program to streamline the process for students who transfer here from community colleges with an associate’s degree.

Crowding diminishes quality

La Verne has bitten off more than it can chew with students who have transferred to the University from other institutions this semester. The problems of unusually large class sizes — combined with a lack of physical space to house classes, cars, etc. — went from bad in fall 2012 to worse this spring.

$3 million grant to help transfers

The University of La Verne was awarded a $3 million Title V grant in collaboration with Citrus College. ULV will receive $1 million over the next five years.

College units worth little these days

'Critical Thinking and Values' or 'Values and Critical Thinking.' One would think that any reference to this philosophy class by using one title or the other would correspond to just one course. For most people, this would be the obvious reasoning, but for universities and colleges this minor detail could make the difference between a student being accepted into a school, being declined admission or having to repeat a class because of a different name.

Transfers receive welcome at open house

Informing transfer students of the services available was the main objective of the Career Development Center's Transfer Student Open House which was held last Friday, Sept. 20.
