After only six months of service to the University of La Verne, Bruce Baron, vice president of Administration and Finance, submitted his resignation, effective Oct. 10.
Baron stated “personal reasons” for his resignation.
“It was a fairly sudden decision, he had first discussed it with me 10 days ago and decided yesterday (Monday),” said President Stephen Morgan of Baron’s sudden departure.
“We are sorry it was a short stay, we are launching an immediate search for his replacement,” said Dr. Morgan.
In a statement released Tuesday to the Campus Times, Baron said, “I’ve resigned my position as vice president for personal reasons. I came to La Verne with every intention of being very successful. I uprooted my family with the hopes that we would be happy in a new community and the position would be rewarding. For various reasons things did not work out as I had hoped. I am disappointed but it is time to look forward and not backward. I want to thank those individuals who were supportive during my vice presidency.”
Until a replacement is found, Avo Kechichian, treasurer, and Steve Grey, controller, will report to Dr. Morgan and the three will work together to cover Baron’s former duties.
“Bruce has a lot of talent and contributed during his stay here,” said Dr. Morgan.
Baron initiated the Recycling Program and was planning long-term projects for his department.
However, Baron will remain as a special consultant to Dr. Morgan until he finds another job and will continue to work on special projects.
