Poetry Wanted

Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum is offering a grand prize of $500 in its new “Awards of Poetic Excellence” poetry contest. Poets may enter one poem only, 20 lines or less, on any subject, in any poetic style. Poems will be considered for publication in “Poetic Voices of America.” The contest closes March 31, 1996. AWAKE!

Dailey Theatre and the University of La Verne Department of Music will present senior Skip Sams’ opera “Awake!” directed by Mary Anne Sellers on March 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m and March 17 at 2 p.m. For more information, call ext. 4-FUN.

Chamber Music

The University of La Verne Department of Music will present “Chamber Music in the Chapel” this Sunday at 8 p.m. in the University Chapel. The concert will feature Audrey Lamprey playing the french horn, Anita Hanawalt on the harpsichord and organ and Karen Cahil will be playing the flute.

Lollapalooza

Lollapalooza announced that the headliners for its upcoming tour in June are Soundgarden, Metallica and the Ramones.

“The Birdcage,” starring Robin Williams. The movie is a remake of a French comedy dealing with a homosexual couple preparing to meet their heterosexual son’s soon to be in-laws.

Upbeat music energizes ULV audience

Musical performances by the University of La Verne music faculty and student Chorale filled the air Friday evening in Founders Auditorium. From classical piano, to jazz, to popular music, the Steinway celebration faculty concert offered something for everyone.

It is a clear relaxing night. It is an evening of women composers. The soft melody of three skilled musicians, was a treat to the University of La Verne community.
