L.A. County Fair
Wrapping up the final week, Western Weekend begins today with a herd of cattle arriving at the Fairplex at 11 a.m. This Sunday, Sept. 29, will be the last day to experience this year’s Los Angeles County Fair. The rest of the weekend will feature Chuckwagon Races and the Bullriders Classic Rodeo. The races and the classic will run at the same time and begin at noon today. They will begin again on Saturday and Sunday, both days at 8 p.m.
Lapides Featured
Comedian Beth Lapides will be on hand Tuesday, Oct. 8 and Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Central Library in Los Angeles to present “The Next Thing You Know,” a comic monologue. It is presented by the Los Angeles Public Library. Tickets are $5 and made by reservation. For tickets call (213) 228-7025. Central Library’s Mark Taper Auditorium is located at 630 W. 5th Street in Los Angeles.
Prism Submissions
Prism, the literary, art and photography magazine of the University of La Verne is accepting submissions for the Fall issue. Short stories, essays, poetry, original art and photographs are being sought. Submission boxes can be found in the Student Center, Miller Hall Lobby and outside Miller Hall Room 216. All submissions must be accompanied by a submission blank. The deadline is Oct. 15.
