A man, suspected by the La Verne Police Department (LVPD) to be carrying a gun, was found walking on campus last Friday night by LVPD.
LVPD Sgt. Scott Pickwith, said that he, along with Officer Troy Allen, noticed the man riding a bicycle on Third Street in front of the campus. When they tried to stop him for a traffic code violation the man fled into the Quad area. After about 90 seconds he said the man came back to Third Street without the shirt that he had been wearing.
According to Pickwith, the man is a known gang member. He added that his “experience with gang members” led him to believe that the man might have been carrying a gun.
LVPD declined to identify the suspect.
