The University of La Verne welcomed two new board of trustees this summer – John Raffoul, president of the Adventist Health White Memorial, and Martha Daniel, president and CEO of Information and Management Resources Inc.

In conjunction with a series of workshops to facilitate dialogue about diversity and inclusion, Karlita Warren, co-chair of the Faculty Diversity Committee, led a workshop titled “Handling Difficult Conversations in the Classroom” Wednesday in the Howell Board Room. 

The University’s new mandatory diversity and cultural competence training for all full time faculty took effect this summer, with a completion deadline of Oct. 1.

The United States has morphed into a place of constant fear, where the next place for a mass shooting could be anywhere; bullet-proof backpacks are now on back to school shelves, active shooter drills at school and in workplaces are standard, and educators are learning how to treat gunshot wounds. 

Al Clark, professor of humanities, played a sneak peak of his documentary that chronicles the experiences of 46 University of La Verne alumni Tuesday in the Executive Dining Room. 

The following students in the College of Arts and Sciences earned a grade point average 3.75 or better during the spring 2019 semester.
