The Action Task Force, the group charged with “finding” $8 million in the University’s budget, has made 16 new recommendations to President Steve Morgan.

In an effort to balance the University’s budget, the Action Task Force has begun releasing recommendations for the La Verne community to offer their input. The ATF has submitted 13 recommendations, some extreme and some beneficial, with nearly every one including cuts to University programs.

The Action Task Force, formed in spring 2005, recently submitted 16 recommendations to University of La Verne President Stephen Morgan.

President Steve Morgan has called on a task force to identify problem areas with the school’s budget and re-allocate $8 million in the University’s operating budget during the summer and into the fall semester.

University administrators have provided reasonable assurance that performance scholarships will be preserved, despite rumors that the awards would be phased out or even cut from next year’s budget due to the institution’s growing budget deficit.

In attempt to recover the University of La Verne from outstanding debt, the Board of Trustees is on the prowl to find $8 million to balance the operating budget.
