The softball team earned its spot in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament by winning a doubleheader over Pomona-Pitzer April 19 at Wheeler Park.
La Verne took the first game, 6-1, and the second game, 3-2.
The softball team battled nationally ranked Linfield College Wednesday at Wheeler Park, but fell short in both games, losing the first game 9-0 and the second 6-1.
Senior guard Amanda Copas helped the women’s basketball team reach new heights of success this season. Copas led the Leopards to a .500 winning percentage and scored her 1,000th career point along the way.
La Verne played a tight defensive game Saturday at Claremont Mudd-Scripps. The Leopards led the game by 14 points until the Athenas came back in the second half. La Verne’s defense stood strong and they held on for an 82-77 win.
