In a season filled with ups and downs, the softball team was unable to reach its goal of a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship.
After clinching a playoff berth with a sweep against the Redlands Bulldogs, the La Verne softball team came out swinging for its final home game of the season, with a 7-1 win over the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas in game one of the doubleheader Saturday at Campus West.
The softball team split with Ithaca College of New York Monday at Campus West. Ithaca took game one, 4-2, but La Verne came back to take game two, 7-1.
