The University participated in the annual statewide earthquake drill “The Great California Shake Out” at exactly 10:16 a.m. on Oct. 16 to encourage everyone to prepare for the “big one.”

The University of La Verne has taken extra precautions toward earthquake preparedness in light of recent earthquakes in the Los Angeles County to prepare students and faculty in case of emergency.
Eighteen students had to be evacuated from their suites in the Vista La Verne dorm the first week of classes following a slow hot water heater leak that caused drywall to crumble and floors to buckle, as well as damaging students’ personal items.
The apparent theft of a set of master keys to the University’s residence halls, and other campus facilities, has led to a security breach that has so far cost the University $7,000, and will ultimately cost much more.
With the new fall semester, the University of La Verne has seen one of its most popular and active staff members, Chip West, take a new position and assume new responsibilities.
A new face to grace the campus of the University of La Verne is none other than David Koch, the new director of facilities management.
Half of the B-Top residents in the Oaks Residence Hall have been without air conditioning since the beginning of the school year.
