Jean Zaru, a devoted peacemaker and advocate of the non-violent struggle by many Palestinians to end the occupation of their country by Israel, addressed a crowd of about 100 students, faculty and staff last week in Founder's Auditorium as part of the university's annual International Festival.

Last week the International Student Center hosted the International Festival 2002, a three-day event featuring the different sights, sounds and themes of the world.

Foreign exchange students from Japan, (left to right) juniors Hiroko Hirano, Aiko Kaneda and Emi Nitta and freshman Naoko Yokota, choreographed the martial arts of karate to music during the international festival last Tuesday at the University Mall.

Out of her love for movies, Catherine Henley-Erickson, professor of English and film critic for the Claremont Courier, has begun a film series based on diversity.
