Not even David Dang's tennis ball-colored watch could distract the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) players from dealing La Verne defeats last weekend.

For the first time in two years, the University of La Verne men's tennis team had a conference victory. It defeated Whittier College, 4-3, at the Nancy Blickenstaff Tennis Pavilion last Tuesday.

Following the dismissal of part-time Spanish professor Paul Zarna early Tuesday afternoon, about eight students from his class gathered in protest to appeal the decision to Dr. Gerard Lavatori, chair of the Foreign Languages Department.

The University of La Verne men's tennis team dropped to 1-8 on the season, as it lost back-to-back matches to Occidental College and Caltech last weekend.

This letter is in regard to the recent problem involving Davenport Dining Hall ["Fire damages move services to Spot," Oct. 9]. Because of the recent fire damage to the building, the on-campus students were forced to deal with an inescapable dilemma. Eating in the Student Center was an unpleasant solution to this problem.
