For the second year in a row, the University of La Verne was recognized among 399 other colleges by the Princeton Review for being a green college.

California is in recovery after multiple wildfires raged across the state in recent weeks leaving nearly 90 people dead, hundreds missing, and thousands more homeless. 

As fires rage across the state with a rising death toll – of more than 59 at press time Thursday – it’s clear that climate change and human impact have intensified California’s prolonged fire seasons.

Six people gathered last Friday to watch “The Last Guardians,” hosted by the Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society, which showed how indigenous people in Ecuador were negatively affected by oil companies. 

Key members of the University of La Verne faculty and city officials cut a leopard print ribbon to celebrate the opening of the newly completed Citrus Hall dormitory and The Spot dining hall on Sept. 6.

Erik Bahnson, president of Students Engaged in Environmental Discussion and Service club, or SEEDS, is drafting a letter to the University’s Board of Trustees to urge the University to divest not only from fossil fuel industries, but also invest in funds that comply with Environment, Social and Governance standards.
