The University of La Verne baseball team not only swept a three game series against conference foe Pomona-Pitzer, but the Leopards clinched the Southern California Intercolleg­iate Athletic Conference title for the 19th time in the University’s history.

Sweeping a three-game series is always nice, but with one weekend remaining in their regular season, the La Verne baseball team propelled itself into second place in the Southern California Intercolleg­iate Athletic Conference after sweeping last weekend’s series against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

The Leopards’ high-powered offense was never able to get off the ground as Chapman proved to be the more dominant team, winning all three games and extending their winning streak to 18 games last weekend.

The University of La Verne baseball team swept both games of their doubleheader last Friday when it hosted Texas Lutheran at Ben Hines Field. The Leopards won game one, 4-3, and game two, 14-6.

Year in and year out, the goal every season for the La Verne women’s volleyball team is to continue to be reigning Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions.

After a disappointing 14-4 loss to Ithaca, the theme of last weekend’s games in the California Invitational was simple: win.
