Harvel Lewis, alumna and longtime faculty member of the University of La Verne, died Jan. 9 of a heart attack in Pomona.

After discussions with Steve Morgan and consulting with legal counsel, the letter to the editor from Simon Bouie was "marginally libel." I believe the printing of the letter was not in order of the Campus Times Code of Ethics.

Is the University of La Verne a high school or a university? The Campus Times has set a standard of reporting unsubstantiated rumor rather than concrete fact. Because the Campus Times has irresponsibly reported on Homecoming '99 students at La Verne have become outraged without actually knowing what is really going on.

There are many who feel the printed word can more effectively relay a message than any other medium. However, there are individuals like University of La Verne Professor of English Catherine Henley-Erickson who feel differently when finding motivation for her "How Does Your Garden Grow? Films About Diversity," film series.

After reading the story and speaking with students who live at the Claremont Inn, one word comes to mind, shame. Shame on the office of housing and residential life.

An attempt to fund the future expansion of KULV proved successful when University of La Verne students and the Associated Students Federation (ASF) Forum voted in support of the request made to the Forum by KULV staff members.
