Softball ended its season Saturday with a 4-2 loss to the University of Texas at Tyler in the NCAA Division III West Regionals in Tyler, Texas, leaving the Leopards with an overall season record of 28-19.

While the softball team might have started their season on a rocky note, a win over Occidental and a sweep against Whittier this past weekend, gave the Leopards a huge confidence boost.

While the sun might have struggled to break through Saturday morning, the University of La Verne softball team had no problem beating down on the Cal Lutheran Regals as they were victorious in both games of the doubleheader at Hutton Field in Thousand Oaks.

Softball faced a tough lineup last weekend with a split against Redlands, the No. 1 team in the Southern California Intercolleg­iate Athletic Conference and two losses against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, currently ranked number two in SCIAC.

With the season halfway gone, the University of La Verne softball team, which won seven of their last eight games, traveled to Wig Beach diamond in Claremont last Saturday to play a crucial conference doubleheader against Pomona-Pitzer.

The Leopards played hard in the first game but lagged in the second as they won one of two games Saturday against Whittier.
