Though a name has not been released, a new vice president of administration was chosen by a search committee Feb. 7. Decisions of the committee are confidential until the position has been filled.
Morris Berger, an executive search firm, narrowed the initial 100 candidates down to three. Those three were then interviewed by the search committee and had open sessions with the University community.
Details about the candidates are confidential.
“We are looking for the right experience, but also a personality that will fit well in the University structure,” said President Stephen Morgan.
Steve Grey, chief financial officer for the University, has been acting as the vice president for administration for the past year-and-a-half. Grey was offered the position, but declined in order to concentrate on his job as CFO.
According to Dr. Morgan, the vice president for administration “overlooks all of the financial obligations for the University. He or she oversees all of the financial and administrative sides of the institution.”
The director of operations will report to the vice president of administration and that position oversees all the buildings and grounds. They also oversee human resources and administrative services.
The search committee is comprised of the senior management team, vice-presidents, the CFO, the assistant to the president, academic and administrative deans and faculty representatives from the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Law, the School of Organizational Management and the School of Business and Economics.
