The University of La Verne women’s tennis team battled the University of Puget Sound Friday on its home court, but lost 9-0.
The ULV women gave it their all, but it was not good enough.
Battling it out on court No. 1 were Michelle Fontanez and Michelle Tang. They suffered a tough loss, 8-3.
“We made more personal mistakes, and that got us down,” Fontanez said.
In their doubles match, Lacy Cascadden and Paige Hanawalt played an aggressive match on court No. 2, but they fell short, losing by a score of 9-7.
“It was a rough loss, and we were holding back a lot for no reason,” Hanawalt said. “By the time we caught up, it was too late,”
On court No. 4, Desiree Whipperman and Angelina Martinez played a hard game of tennis, but lost their match, 8-2.
In the singles competition, Cascadden played a great match but lost, 6-4, 6-2.
Last Saturday’s home match against Colorado College was cancelled because of the rain. The match will not be rescheduled.
