Tickets are now on sale in the Student Center for “One Sweet Night,” the 1997 spring formal, to be held April 12, sponsored by the Associated Students Federation (ASF) Forum.
“We’ve decided to do ticket sales in advance to get people discounts and get the word out,” said Tracey Landisi, ASF President.
The evening will be decorated in theme colors of black and gold, and will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a reception at the Red Lion Inn, in Ontario. Following the reception will be dinner, Monte-Carlo-styled games and dancing.
The Monte Carlo games are the newest addition to the usual spring formal festivities of dinner and dancing only. It offers mock-style gambling as an alternative to those who do not dance.
The event will also feature a Spring Formal Court. Individual students, groups or organizations may nominate one female and one male for the court.
However, previous Homecoming and Spring Formal Court members may not be nominated again. Elections will be done on March 17 and 18 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. at the Seal.
Tickets for the formal are being sold from March 10-21, and will be $40 per couple and $20 per person. Tickets will go up to $45 per couple and $22.50 per person from March 31- April 4 and $50 per couple and $25 per person from April 7-11.
To purchase tickets, an undergraduate University of La Verne identification card will be required and only cash will be accepted.
Pictures will be available for purchase at the formal itself and will range in price from $15-25.
ASF encourages students to dress in formal attire, though it is not mandatory. However, semi-formal attire is required for this event.
“It’s going to be a very classy event. We are aware that $40-50 is a lot of money for many ULV students, but we hope they can make it, in order to have a good time with each other, and forget some of the stresses of being a college student,” said Landisi.
