After a semifinal letdown to second-ranked Washington (Mo.) University, the University of La Verne women’s volleyball team rode a 3-0 victory over Emory University to a third-place national finish Saturday night in the Supertents.

Smith crowned Player of the Year

Amy Smith, senior outside hitter for the University of La Verne women’s volleyball team, was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association Player of the Year at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Banquet Dec. 4 at the Ontario Convention Center.
