As a public school teacher and a ULV adjunct professor, I was a bit taken aback by the Oct. 13 editorial, "Teachers Need More Experience." I am also a bit unsure which cursory statement the editorial made that I find most egregious, but there were many.

Teachers need more experience

It is fairly common for students to get some sort of assignment that pertains to their reading for an English class. For example, students may be reading Romeo and Juliet and they may get an assignment from their teacher in which they must pretend to be either Romeo or Juliet and write a journal detailing what they would have done. That kind of assignment is expected from a teacher.

President earns accolade

Rewarded for his student leadership, University of La Verne President Stephen Morgan was chosen to be one of the four inductees honored at the Covina High School Hall of Fame on Friday, March 8.
