In honor of the Los Angeles County Fair’s theme this year, “Back to our Roots,” the University of La Verne's Cultural and Natural History Collections dug around their assortment of items and brought out objects from the 1800’s and into the fair’s Little Red School House.

The Cultural and Natural History Collections of the University of La Verne received a glimpse of Jewish life and culture pre-World War II through 14 folk-art sculptures, donated by the Malgert Halpern and Irving Cohen family. 

Members of the La Verne community gathered in the xeriscape garden between Hoover Building and Woody Hall to dedicate a plaque and bench in honor of Kim Martin, former professor of anthropology, who died in 2019.

Felicia Beardsley, professor of anthropology, discussed whether there are alternate ways to properly date the prehistoric site of Nan Madol in Pohnpei, Micronesia, without destroying its natural foundation during a faculty lecture in the Quay Davis Executive Board Room on Tuesday.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, we understand that significant changes and sacrifices are necessary to maintain the academic integrity of the University of La Verne, while also ensuring our continued financial stability. That being said, we have serious concerns about the approach that has been taken with this challenge.

Visitors were captivated by the technology driven booths at the second annual STEAM Fair on Friday and Saturday.
