The price of attending the University of La Verne will not increase in the 2021-22 academic year, President Devorah Lieberman announced this week in an email to the community.
A bill that aims to curtail colleges’ and universities’ preferential treatment of legacy admissions has been proposed by Assembly member Phil Ting, D–San Fransisco, in response to the recent admissions scandal.
The University of La Verne has had trouble recently retaining students from freshman through senior years. There are undoubtedly many reasons for this retention problem. However, the fact that tuition increases by between roughly 4 percent and 6 percent almost every year in recent memory – or more than twice the rate of inflation – is most likely one of the main reasons.
The current Republican administration in this nation is proposing three things which could be highly problematic for all students attending (or planning to attend) college.
