The La Verne football team reigned supreme as it claimed the 2015 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship Saturday with a 38-21 win over the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen at Ortmayer Stadium.
The Leopards beat the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens, 49-35, Saturday at Merritt Field in Claremont to remain undefeated in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
With the win, the team’s sixth consecutive, the Leopards clinch their first playoff appearance since 1994. A victory against Cal Lutheran Saturday, would give them full ownership of the SCIAC championship title, their first since 1995.
The La Verne football team remained on top of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 49-42 win over Chapman, the defending SCIAC champions, Saturday at Ortmayer Stadium.
With the clock ticking down from five seconds in the fourth quarter, the intensity continued to rise for the La Verne Leopards and the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags football teams.
