Close to five decades after being taught the basics of guitar by Jessica Alba’s grandfather, Michael Ryan brought the spirit of acoustic Spanish music to the University of La Verne for the Sundays at the Morgan concert series.

The stage was set with a grand piano and three chairs with amplifier cords draped over them, waiting to be plugged in by guitarists.

In the dimly lit First Christian Church, the University of La Verne Chamber Singers and Aldersgate Chorale joined forces to perform as the Mountainside Master Chorale Sunday in Pomona for their Earth Day concert, “Big Blue Marble.”

As the rest of campus lay quiet late Tuesday night, Sleep Club was just coming on. A quaint crowd of no more than 30 bustled into the Jane Dibbell Cabaret Theatre to experience this week’s Cabaret Series Act.

The University’s Barbershop Club side-stepped onto the stage behind a large, cardboard cut out of a replica of the most well-known yellow submarine, drawing a gust of laughter from the excited audience.
