After sweeping Pomona-Pitzer in three games over the weekend, the University of La Verne softball team split games with conference rival California Lutheran University Wednesday.
The University of La Verne softball team was flawless last weekend, going 6-0, including 4-0 in the month-long Chapman Sun West Tournament. This week it raised its winning streak to eight games after beating Willamette University twice Tuesday, 8-7 and 13-5.
After their third straight year of controlling the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the softball team took its game to Tacoma, Wash., to battle it out with the top teams in their region. After two days and four games, the women would return to La Verne with a solid third place finish.
Another year of dominating its conference competition has brought the University of La Verne's softball team another impressive postseason bid. The Leopards, who are the proud owners of a 17-1 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record, earned a No. 2 ranking in this weekend's NCAA West Regional playoff in Tacoma, Wash.
"If you want it, you'll win it," were the words head coach Julie Kline told her softball team after a disappointing loss last Friday to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Cal Lutheran.
The University of La Verne women's softball team had an impressive performance last week sweeping conference opponents and gaining two wins in the Chapman Tournament in Orange, increasing their record to an impressive 17-0-1.
