With the season halfway gone, the University of La Verne softball team, which won seven of their last eight games, traveled to Wig Beach diamond in Claremont last Saturday to play a crucial conference doubleheader against Pomona-Pitzer.

Going into last Saturday’s doubleheader against the No. 7 ranked Redlands Bulldogs, the softball team was looking to improve its conference record and establish itself as a team that can play with anyone.

On Feb. 5 people flocked to the polls for the California presidential primary election. An early California primary and a diverse pool of potential presidential candidates were among the reasons this year’s state primary received much more attention than those of previous election cycles.

After taking both ends of a doubleheader from the Occidental Tigers on Saturday (19-0 and 9-1), the Leopards softball team remained upbeat about its senior farewell game, which came at its last home game, a doubleheader against the Cal Lutheran Regals on Sunday.

With three out of four games won this past weekend, the softball team seems to be batting towards the right direction.
