The University of La Verne baseball team not only swept a three game series against conference foe Pomona-Pitzer, but the Leopards clinched the Southern California Intercolleg­iate Athletic Conference title for the 19th time in the University’s history.

Sweeping a three-game series is always nice, but with one weekend remaining in their regular season, the La Verne baseball team propelled itself into second place in the Southern California Intercolleg­iate Athletic Conference after sweeping last weekend’s series against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

With the fate of their season in sight, and three conference foes standing in their way, La Verne baseball team played Occidental last weekend, winning two of three.

In what turned out to be a gloomy weekend, the La Verne baseball team shined last weekend playing their most important series of the season, winning two dramatic games against conference foe Whittier.

Scoring runs has not been a problem for the Leopards this season; however, scoring more than their opponents has been as of late.

Riding high off a string of wins, the La Verne baseball team looked to continue its solid play against a legitimate opponent in the NAIA’s No. 2 ranked team, the Azusa Pacific Tigers, on Tuesday.
