Our university is currently in the process of resurrecting a class, which for years had been described as a waste of time and money by many students and faculty alike. This class, University 100, “The First Year Experience Program,” serves as an introductory course for freshmen and is planned to be reinstated beginning fall 2004 after it was canceled two years ago.
With the selection of the 2000 Orientation Week co-coordinators named in junior Kelly Mitchell and sophomore Courtney Henderson, the University of La Verne is in the process of evaluating its freshman Orientation course-University 100.
This is in response to those students who wrote a letter to the editor about how "U100 classes are mostly pointless" and how the papers assigned to the students were "just busy work."
There was a time in my life when a game of basketball or flag football provided a nice relief to a long day of academic classes. It provided a way for me to have some fun before tackling the rigorous lectures of math or science.
