Usually grocery store workers hear “thank you” after helping someone find those hidden spices or something from the back. Now I’m greeted daily with “Thank you for helping everyone” during the current circumstances.
As essential grocery workers are spending their time ringing customers up, restocking the shelves and working through this pandemic, many of them have been receiving additional pay – sometimes called “hero pay” – to compensate for the health risks they have had to take on the job over the past weeks.
Academic departments each year identify students who have been recognized for academic achievement. Along with this recognition, each candidate is gifted a special commemorative pen that is embossed with their full name. Following the ongoing battle with an expired contract and a fight for higher wages, University of La Verne Bon Appétit workers joined together on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. to confront University administration and delegate their needs.
The La Verne women’s water polo team showed their eagerness to prove themselves as a competitive opponent in SCIAC as they took the 13-10 win against the Cal Lutheran Regals Saturday afternoon at the La Verne Aquatic Center.
