La Verne Community Television production (LVTV-3) will host its second annual “Halloween Live!,” a live interactive television program from 8 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 31.
The show will feature Halloween humor, scary stories and short Halloween theme videos produced by local students and community members.
La Verne residents may stop by the La Verne Community Television studio in Veteran’s Hall on the corner of Bonita and Wheeler avenues to send out Halloween greetings and receive candy.
The event is a way for La Verne children and adults to have fresh Halloween experience – and all on live television, said Don Pollock, professor of communications and LVTV general manager.
Pollock came up with the show’s concept and is producing it for the second time, after a successful production last year.
“I had an idea to reach out to the community by having a live interactive show on Halloween,” Pollock said.
The show may also offer a safer alternative to trick-or-treating at a time when safety is of primary concern to residents locally and nationwide.
The event’s participants will include elementary students, who will each get to read a line of poetry.
The live show will be decked out in elaborate Halloween décor: smoky mood lighting, jack-o-lanterns and more.
The host will be Billy Bob, La Verne’s favorite hillbilly, and Snooky Shabazz, a disco pimp; characters created by LVTV.
Families are encouraged to stop by for candy and to tell scary stories and jokes or just say hello friends and neighbors who may be viewing.
ULV student Erin Coleman will debut her directing skills for the Halloween show.
“Hopefully the show will go off without a hitch,” Coleman said.
Last year Halloween Live was a finalist for an Alliance for Community Media award at the “Home Town Video Festival.”
