The Learning Enhancement Center recently held a workshop titled “What the Heck is APA Style?” for psychology students, which attracted faculty and a mix of undergraduate and graduate students.
Held in the Hoover Building, the workshop demonstrated the basics of up-to-date rules from the American Psychological Association on citation and where to find more information about APA style.
“The main purpose of these workshops is to make sure students have the information they need to write their papers,” said Bailey Smith, director of the Learning Enhancement Center.
“I attend these workshops to get familiar with up-to-date information,” junior Ricky Sullivan said.
The LEC offers two workshops each semester.
Last fall one of the workshops focused on study skills and anxiety.
Another toward the end of this semester will address “Research Survival Skills.”
“I always offer this workshop to students because I know how they like to procrastinate and wait until the last minute to do things,” Smith said.
In addition to up-to-date information, those attending last week’s workshop got free pens, note pads and mouse pads as well as pizza, soda and cookies.
