Sunny beaches, warm weather and Disneyland. These are the characteristics we proudly boast of when we speak of our precious California. Unfortunately, this image has been overcast with a cloud of selfishness, self-empowerment and discrimination since November when Californians voted for Proposition 187. This action has branded California as a place where humanity is not given a chance.

“Non-smoking section” is a passe term now that smoking has been regulated statewide in all public areas. Now non-smokers need not worry about their individual scent being disguised by the odor of tobacco.

History was made Nov. 8 when California, the last frontier in a nation full of immigrants, decided to deny access to public services to many of its inhabitants.

I have come to the conclusion that there are some laws in California that are obsolete, archaic and otherwise forgotten. These are laws that nobody really cares for; laws which police would rather ignore and not bother with. Take oral sex for instance. This very taboo and unspeakable act that many people partake in everyday is illegal in more than half of our nation’s states. Why?
