A new exhibit titled “Emblem and Artifice: Withered Symbols of the War,” features chemigrams that display lost symbols from World War II.

“Faith,” a photo from “After Selma” captures the emotion of an original foot soldier who marched again with the new generation 50 years later. The photography series compares the march from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 to the recent oppression of black people.

Disheartening images of drought-ridden California land, the 2011 Egyptian revolution and the 2008 Russo-Georgia War shocked the approximately 35 people in attendance for Los Angeles Times photographer Michael Robinson Chávez’s lecture Feb. 18 in the Campus Center Ballroom.

Before Janice Sullivan was photographing flowers and shouting with excitement at insects on plants, she was a student at the University of La Verne who majored in art with an emphasis in photography.
