Golf drops in SCIAC

Last Monday, the University of La Verne’s golf team dropped its third straight Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match to Caltech, 326-349. The Leos began conference play with four straight wins.

Caltech’s Tim Nelson and Kyle Stickle shot a match best 77.

La Verne’s Victor Bugni shot a team best 80 for the Leos. Senior Ryan Bazela shot an 84 while senior Greg Maher shot a 92.

The Leos went into yesterday’s SCIAC tournament with a 4-6, 4-3 record.

A no-hitter by freshman pitcher Jack Holguin capped off an explosive weekend for the Leopards as they swept Caltech in their three-game series, only giving up three runs and accumulating 28 total runs between their doubleheader games on Saturday.
