Two residential life staff positions will be open due to the departure of Stu-Han/Brandt Area Coordinator Leah Caro and her assistant Gary Myers.
“We anticipate not having any staff turnover, but we do,” said Helena Gerstenberg, Housing and Residential Life director.
Both coordinators came to the positions last year, but Myers abruptly left several weeks ago. He resigned on May 1 and moved out of housing immediately. No specific reason was given for his departure and he was unavailable for comment.
“The only thing I can say is that he resigned for personal reasons,” said Gerstenberg.
“It hasn’t been hard without him,” she said. “We had to pick up and pull together. My staff is great so there was no problem.”
This was the first year for the part-time assistant position. And although the office has been working well this past month without an assistant, Gerstenberg hopes to maintain the position next year.
Caro will be leaving at the end of the semester to start a new job.
“I am starting my own business in the cosmetics industry,” she said.
She adds that she will miss the students and workers she has become friends with, but will stay close with the ULV community.
