Beginning Monday, parking Lot D will be closed until late next year, with commuter students now required to park in the University’s shuttle lots.
Set to last until the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year, the closure of Lot D, currently the only on-campus lot available to commuters, marks the beginning phase of construction on the University’s upcoming four-story parking structure.
“We’d appreciate everyone’s support in this,” said Lisa Grater, manager of transportation services. “It’s going to benefit everyone eventually. This is a great university that’s really trying to help students with parking and getting to campus.”
Commuter students have been asked to park in one of the University’s two shuttle lots—Lot S, located on A Street, or the new Lot T at Fairplex Gate 17, located on McKinley Avenue.
Gate 17 will be available until Oct. 23, when the shuttle lot will be moved to Gate 23, located on Arrow Highway. The hours for Lot T will be from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Lot S will be open 5:30 a.m.-12:15 a.m. Monday through Friday.
No overnight or weekend parking will be allowed at either lot. Shuttles will run every 8-10 minutes.
More information on the new parking regulations, including shuttle maps and hours of operation, can be found at sites.laverne.edu/parking.
