The opening of International Education Week, hosted by the Office of International Services and Study Abroad, was held Monday at Johnson Plaza.
About 15 students attended the event, which included booths that offered information about study abroad programs in Mexico, Japan, Africa and more.
Maribel Rodriguez, director of international services, emphasized how valuable it can be to study in a different country.
“It’s about the exchange of ideas and culture and learning that we’re all … connected even though we come from different backgrounds,” Rodriguez said.
Tobias Brewster, freshman information technology major who attended the event, said he was happy he did.
“I think events like this are important,” Brewster said.
Ahmad Tarifi, senior kinesiology major, agreed.
“It’s really important to educate people about other cultures.”
