Teaching Workshops

CBEST workshops, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education Title V grant, University of La Verne and Citrus College, will be presented in June by Valerie Beltran. The workshops are divided into two sessions. The first session is on June 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the second session is on June 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are held in the Campus Center B and C ballroom. It is free for all students. Photography Course

Gary S. Colby, professor of photography, has announced a new general education course that will be available in the Fall semester of 2010. The course, Photo 305, is called “The Magic Box Revolutions: A Social History of Photography.” The CRN is 1094. The class is scheduled for 12:40 to 2:10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There are no prerequisties and no photography experienced required. The course meets the interdisciplinary thinking requirement. The instructor is Edward R. Cash for Books

The University of La Verne Bookstore will be buying books from May 24-29. The bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.on Saturday. For more information, call 909-593-8962.

Dance Competition

The Fairplex will host the MOVE Productions Regional Dance Competition this Friday through Sunday in Building 5. The audience will have a chance to experience the competitive world of dance. The National Finals will be held in San Diego.

Mission Circuit Dog Show

There will be 160 breeds and approximately 8,000 dogs competing over four days at the Mission Circuit Dog Show at 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on May 28-31 at the Fairplex. For more information, call 909-623-3111.

Dogs compete for best in show

Almost 2,000 dogs from 207 eligible breeds and varieties competed this past weekend at the Kennel Club of Beverly Hills Dog Show at the Fairplex in Pomona. Expo halls were filled with over 100 guests, who were at grooming stations, in competing rings, and shopping outdoors at dog-related vendors that sold items like collars, leashes, treats, and clothes. 

Dogs fetch hearts at Fur-plex show

More than 1,200 audience members, breeders and owners attended the Beverly Hills Dog Show at the Fairplex in Pomona on Saturday, as they groomed and prepared their pets for the long day.
