UPDATE (10:24 a.m.) — The person who was taken into custody last night was released after LVPD determined he was not linked to the incident, interim campus safety director Jeff Clark said in an emailed statement Tuesday.
Police did not find the suspect and concluded the search after the lockdown, which lasted about an hour and 20 minutes, was lifted after 1 a.m., Clark said. The case is still under investigation.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, an armed robber stole a backpack from a commuter student who was visiting a friend at the Oaks Residence Hall, Clark said.
Police took a male suspect into custody near the railroad tracks along Arrow Highway shortly after an emergency notification alert was sent out to the campus community, Clark said.
There will be a meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Campus Center Ballroom regarding the incident.

A possible suspect is in custody as La Verne police are investigating an armed robbery Monday night near the Oaks Residence Hall, a ULV emergency notification stated.
The first notification, sent out at 11:42 p.m. Monday, stated that the suspect fled.
Campus was on lockdown for over an hour as the La Verne Police Department investigated. The lockdown was lifted at around 1:15 a.m.
Campus Safety said in an emailed ULVALERT notification that they are beefing up patrols and encourages everyone to stay inside.
