The cool breezy fall evening air blew through Sneaky Park as quartets sang, giving audience members a night to remember.
Costumes and candy filled tables for a spooky scene at Sneaky Park for Mu Phi Epsilon’s first Halloween Kids’ Club concert.
Kids from the community were able to sit and enjoy singers from the University while they ate candy and food.
The Lordsburg Brothers, Measuremints, Make No Mention and Sister Notes captured the attention of trick-or-treaters and their families with songs such as “So Happy Together,” “Dixie” and “I Have Dreamed.”
“This is the first time the quartet is ever performing together,” said Measuremints member Vicky Campos, junior music major. “It’s something that has kept me disciplined.”
Measuremints had been working for weeks prepping for Friday’s event and their first showcase on Sunday.
Each of the groups were made of four singers with one lead. Each group alternated from one group to another after sets of songs were performed, starting with a male quartet to a female.
As goblins, witches, wizards and princesses made their way up D Street and Third Street, Mu Phi Epsilon President Wesly Tan handed out candy and led them to the concert in front of the Wilson Library.
Families engaged in the songs by clapping their hands and singing along to the words as they ate.
Sticky macaroni and cheese, crispy chicken tenders, barbecue Buffalo wings, spinach dip, vegetables and cupcakes were served to families and trick-or-treaters.
The Lordsburg Brothers sang with smooth voices and sweet serenade, while the crowd whistled and hollered in response.
“There are so many kids, and their costumes are cute,” said junior music major and Mu Phi Epsilon member Caelin Eager.
Veronica Didier, service chairwoman for Mu Phi Epsilon, put on the Halloween show to switch it up from their usual Christmas performance, Eager said.
She sat in on the festivities as the sky turned into an amber orange and purple, resembling a picturesque movie scene.
The fraternity could not have been happier, Eager said.
The concert is usually held closer to Christmas to give a fun light mood to the end of the semester, Eager said, but the fraternity thought it would be a good change for this year.
“I’m really proud of my singers” said Carol Stephenson, voice and voice workshop coordinator and instructor of music. “They got to try out their music for Sunday’s concert and I couldn’t be prouder.”
Make no Mention ended the night with “Lucky Old Son,” to signify the end of the event and quartet harmonizers thanked all who attended and wished them a happy and safe Halloween.
